"Dear Friends of Tanglewood Hollow,

Last fall, we were approached about a small Natural History Museum in Warner, NH, unable to reopen after Covid. This museum, the creation of Sandra Martin, began when Sandy was just 12 years old. Her passion for the natural world, sparked by science classes at the Boston Museum of Science, led her to build a museum in her home as a child. Over the years, Sandy collected specimens, held classes, and loaned out books, gradually expanding her museum with the help of her sister, Roberta. Her dedication was evident as the museum overflowed from her bedroom, leading her to find a location to showcase the museum in it’s entirety.

Sandy's collection grew with donations and included exhibits on rocks and minerals, fossils, shells, aquatic life, insects, pollinators, desert life, sand from around the world, fluorescent minerals, invasive species, plant life, and many taxidermy specimens native to NH. Unfortunately, after a bad fall and the onset of dementia, Sandy had to move into a facility, leaving her unable to maintain the museum.

Initially, we hoped to take over the non-profit and continue operations at the current location. However, the museum faced eviction, and the entire collection risked being discarded. After months of legal work, we began the monumental task of moving and sorting the collection in May. With the help of friends, we've spent countless hours packing, moving, and storing items, but we still have a long way to go.

Now, we need your help. The unexpected museum move has been a significant financial burden. We aim to display rotating exhibits in our shop at no cost to the community, but we need funds to get the museum out of boxes and into a proper display space. We've already invested heavily in truck rentals, storage, and more to save Sandy's life work from being lost. This is important work.

Sandy, who remains in contact with us, recently said, "Thank you for keeping my dream alive!" Together, we can keep her dream alive. Your donations are crucial for preserving this important collection for our community's children and families. We couldn't do this without your support.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping us continue Sandy's legacy.

Warm wishes,

The Tanglewood Hollow Team"
